OC presents beloved holiday tradition "Cocoa and Carols"
Oklahoma Christian University’s 33rd annual holiday gift to the community,“Cocoa and Carols” will feature a masterwork for chorus and orchestra, followed by a selection of much loved holiday music. The annual event will be Sunday, December 6 at 2 p.m. in Hardeman Auditorium, located in the Garvey Center on the OC campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
A wide variety of holiday selections will be performed by more than 200 students and faculty of the university’s music department. Complimentary hot cocoa and cider will be served during intermission in the Conservatory, with seasonal music provided by the University Chamber Orchestra.
The program will begin with the traditional processional, “Personent Hodie,” followed by the performance of the concert’s major work, “Requiem” by John Rutter. Both selections will be presented by the University Chorale and full professional orchestra. Conducting the works will be Dr. Ken Adams, Professor of Music.
Following intermission and refreshments, the program will continue with a mix of favorite Christmas selections performed by the Oklahoma Christian University Chorale, Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Chamber Orchestra. These selections will include yuletide favorites such as “Deck the Halls,” “Good King Wenceslas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Carol of the Bells” and “White Christmas.”
