OC opera features comedy double bill
The Music Department of Oklahoma Christian University presents a Double Bill of two short “one act” operas on Sunday, April 12, at 7:30 PM on the campus in Hardeman Auditorium. The works performed are Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte” (abridged) and “Dr. Miracle” by Georges Bizet.
Both comedies revolve around the foibles of human nature, especially regarding the unpredictability of men and women in love. Favorite comic plot devices used in both productions include jealous lovers, suspicious parents, scheming servants, and characters appearing in several disguises.
Cast members include OC students Courtney Knapp, Justin Frunk, Lavon Wheeler, Melissa Eastman, Ryan Gonzales, Tommy Winberry, Chelsea Thut, Elliot Wright, Hayley Neff, Matthew Sloan, Sarah Duvall, Shiloh Martin, with guests Jacob Conger and Chad Anderson.
The performance is fully staged with professional orchestra, and is directed by Karalyn Merritt and conducted by Dr. Ken Adams. Admission is free. For further information call 425-5530.
