OC sophomore Pulido named as Heartland’s player of the week
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 18, 2013) –Julio Pulido has become the second Oklahoma Christian player this season to be named as the Heartland Conference men’s tennis player of the week.
Pulido, a sophomore from Caceras, Spain, went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles last week as the Eagles (5-1) beat Harding (Ark.) 9-0, No. 29-ranked Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 5-4 and No. 47 Southeastern Oklahoma State 7-0.
Playing at the No. 4 singles position, Pulido beat Harding's Helio Hashimoto 6-2, 6-1, Ouachita Baptist's Vitor Oliveira 6-3, 6-4 and Southeastern Oklahoma State's Martin Bedecarratz 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles with partner Nicolas Auruccio, Pulido posted two 8-0 wins, over Harding's Hashimoto and Adam Edwards and Southeastern's Tiago Ferrieria and Filip Palovic. The OC duo's only loss came by a 9-7 count to Marko Boskovic and Oliveria of Ouachita Baptist.
Pulido joins teammate Martin Poboril, who won the honor two weeks ago, as a recipient of the conference’s weekly men’s tennis award.
