NORMAN, Okla. (Oct. 5, 2012) – Fall practice is the first chance for Oklahoma Christian softball coach Tom Heath to see what kind of team he’ll  have in the spring. What better way to find out than to go against the best?

OC will play this weekend in the University of Oklahoma Fall Festival in Norman and one of the Lady Eagles’ opponents on Saturday will be against the Sooners, who came within a whisker of winning the 2012 College World Series in June before falling in game three of the championship series to Alabama.

Two of Oklahoma’s players, Keilani Ricketts and Jessica Shults, spent the summer playing for Team USA in various events.

As for OC, the newcomers who will take the field for the Lady Eagles for the first time this weekend are freshman pitcher Danielle Collins, junior-college transfers Martha Thomas and Lauren Pittman and junior Lauren Chatigny, a transfer from Northwest Missouri State.

OC’s 2013 season – its first since the university began the NCAA Division II membership process – will start on Feb. 9 when the Lady Eagles travel to Bethany for a doubleheader against Southwestern Christian.
