AFTON, Okla. (Aug. 1, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian’s Audrey Meisch capped a successful summer with a strong showing for the Kansas squad this week at the annual Fore State Championship.
The rising junior from Wichita, Kan., won two matches and halved another, earning 2½ of the 10 points recorded by the Kansas team in the invitation-only event, during which amateur women’s golfers from Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma compete for team honors.
The Fore State Championship was held Monday and Tuesday at Shangri-La Golf Resort.
In the four-ball portion of the event, Meisch teamed with Amanda Booth to beat the Arkansas duo of Endsley Evans and Sarah Childers 1-up. In the foursome portion, Meisch and Booth halved a match with Nadia Majidizadeh and Charter Lawson of Oklahoma.
Meisch won her lone singles match, beating Marlena Weatherly of Arkansas 5 and 3.
Oklahoma won the event with 15 points, while Arkansas had 12 and Missouri 11.
Meisch was chosen to play in the Fore State Championship after finishing fifth in the Kansas Women’s Golf Association Amateur Championship in mid-July. In June, she played in another invitation-only event, the Judson Collegiate & Legends Pro-Am Challenge in Roswell, Ga.
