OKLAHOMA CITY (May 6, 2014) – After a week during which he recorded three saves, Oklahoma Christian closer Dillon Endecott was named Tuesday as a National Christian College Athletic Association baseball student-athlete of the week.
Endecott, a junior from McLoud, earned the NCCAA pitching honor after recording his second three-save week of the season, lifting his season total to 12 – which ranks second in the NCCAA. With each save, he extends his single-season and career records in that category.
He threw a perfect ninth inning last Tuesday in a 5-2 win over regionally ranked Central Oklahoma, then slammed the door twice as OC swept Oklahoma Panhandle State, winning 6-3 in the second game of the league series on Friday and 16-13 in the Saturday finale. The latter win clinched an outright third-place finish for the Eagles in the Heartland Conference regular-season standings.
He allowed two hits and no runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, lowering his team-best ERA to 1.36.
He is the third OC baseball player to be honored this season by the NCCAA. Teammates A.J. Florence and Caden Cleveland earlier each received the weekly hitting honor.
