OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 25, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian men’s basketball coaches Dan Hays, Terril Hankins, Bob Battisti and Rob McKinzie will join hundreds of their coaching counterparts throughout the nation this weekend by participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers weekend.

Hays, Hankins, Battisti and McKinzie will wear sneakers with their suits during OC’s home game Saturday against St. Mary’s (Texas). They have invited St. Mary’s coach Jim Zeleznak and his staff to do the same.

The annual Suits and Sneakers weekend is a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer, which is a joint effort of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to empower basketball coaches to help make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Donation cups will be located at the entrances to the Eagles’ Nest and at the concession stand during Saturday’s game. Fans also can join in the fight against cancer and make a donation of $5 by texting “COACH” to 20222. Every time they text from January 21 through April 9, they’ll be entered for a chance to win exclusive basketball experiences like watching top teams courtside at the 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic or autographed gear.

Fans can follow Coaches vs. Cancer on Facebook and on Twitter @CoachesvCancer.

Also Saturday, area Girl Scouts will attend the games and perform a flag ceremony and the national anthem before both the women’s and men’s games against St. Mary’s. Ambassador Girl Scout Ashlee Boydston will sing the anthem.
