WEATHERFORD, Okla. (April 25, 2013) – Will Chapman, who has been involved with Oklahoma Christian men’s basketball since 2008, has been named as an assistant coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Chapman, who served as OC’s graduate assistant coach last season, will be reunited at Southwestern with Bob Battisti, who spent the past two seasons as an OC assistant before taking the head-coaching job at Southwestern earlier this month.

Southwestern, an NCAA Division II university, is a member of the Great American Conference.

Chapman, 23, played two seasons of junior varsity basketball for OC, starting in 2008, then spent two seasons as a program assistant before becoming head coach Dan Hays’ graduate assistant coach this past season.

"I'd like to thank coach Hays for letting me be a part of his staff,” Chapman said. “Learning the game from him has truly been an honor and it has been very beneficial in helping me start my career as a coach. I’m fortunate to be able to follow coach Battisti to Southwestern and I’m looking forward to getting to work there.”

Chapman, from San Antonio, Texas, will finish his master’s degree in athletic administration this summer at East Central University in Ada and plans to continue his graduate studies at Southwestern.
