OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 17, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian’s men’s basketball coaches and players recently participated in an event in support of Fields & Futures, an initiative that assists the Oklahoma City Public Schools’ athletic program.

Coaches Dan Hays, Terril Hankins and Rob McKinzie and several OC players conducted the Fields & Futures program’s inaugural coaching clinic at Northwest Classen High School on Sept. 7, providing basketball instruction to several of the Oklahoma City district’s coaches.

“The clinics are designed to reinforce the fundamentals of the sports while also offering additional information that is pertinent to a great program, including sessions on the emotional, physical, and academic well-being of every athlete,” Oklahoma City Public Schools Athletic Director Keith Sinor said. “These clinics are multi-faceted and lots of fun.”

The purpose of the Fields & Futures program is to help elevate the Oklahoma City district’s athletic programs and playing fields to the level of other area districts, to help develop and retain coaches within the district – the largest in Oklahoma – and to inspire and influence athletes in a positive manner.

The Fields & Futures program, started by Oklahoma City businessman Tim McLaughlin, has drawn the support of famous athletes including Wes Welker of the Denver Broncos and Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
