Nursing alumna provides aid during Joplin tornado relief

imageWe received notification from 2010 alumna Whitney McRay’s father, Todd McRay.

On Sunday, when Whitney heard the pleas for medical personnel to go to Joplin, Mo., to help with tornado victims, she grabbed her Mercy Hospital nurse badge and stethoscope and headed to Joplin. She was directed to an AM/PM Clinic, where she found total chaos. She introduced herself to the lead doctor and he put her to work. She stayed until 1:00 a.m. helping hundreds of battered and injured people.

We are proud that our alumni find ways to use their education to be a blessing to those in need. Whitney, thank you for exemplifying the light that we hope our OC graduates will shine to the world!
