OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 9, 2012) – Tara Lewis’ performance in the Bison Invitational earned her another award on Tuesday, as the freshman from Edmond was named by the NCCAA as its women’s cross country student-athlete of the week.
Despite being OC’s only entrant in the five-kilometer race on Saturday in Shawnee, Lewis posted career-bests for time (18:42) and overall finish (fifth). It was the second time in her four collegiate meets that Lewis had an individual top-10 finish.
On Monday, the Heartland Conference named her as its runner of the week.
The NCCAA national weekly award was one of three picked up by OC student-athletes on Tuesday. Martin Poboril (men’s tennis) and Anna Arrese Cortadellas (women’s golf) also were honored. Five OC student-athletes have won NCCAA honors a total of six times this fall.
