Love in the air at Valentine Cabaret

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Oklahoma Christian University (OC) Department of Music will present the 28th-annual Valentine Cabaret performance Feb. 10-14.

The production includes a variety of 30 love songs gathered from Broadway musicals and movies. Some of the songs include “If You Can’t Love Her” from Beauty and the Beast, “You’re the One That I Want” from Grease, and “It’s Raining Men” from Company Women.

Terry Attebery will direct the Valentine Cabaret for the second year.

“Sometimes love is good, sometimes love is bad, sometimes love hurts, sometimes love is happy, sometimes love is sad,” Attebery said. “So all of those emotions are included, as well as the humor in love.”

The performance will feature a cast of eight male and eight female students as well as piano, bass, drums and saxophone accompaniment.

The 16-member cast includes Tia Allen, Kayti Alvarez, Nathan Binkley, Emily Dick, Daniel Terra Gomes, Sydney May, Peter Miller, Andrea Ochoa, Austin Peace, Corbin Pospisil, Tess Rudasill, Matthew Russell, Megan Suescun, Alex Wiggs, Thomas Winkler and Abby Woodward.

Attebery said the production should appeal to a variety of people.

“A very popular thing of all ages is to incorporate Broadway performances,” Attebery said.

The Valentine Cabaret will take place in Adams Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are available for $12 at the OC Box Office or at oc.edu/cabaret.
