WINFIELD, Kan. (Oct. 20, 2012) – Tara Lewis and Maria Sargent each posted a season-best time as Oklahoma Christian’s women’s cross country team wrapped up the regular season by running Saturday in the Mid-States Classic.

Lewis, a freshman from Edmond, finished sixth in the 167-woman race, covering the five kilometers in 18:38.39. OC sophomore Noemi Hernandez was 60th in 20:12.94, while Sargent was 105th in 21:47.59.

OC’s other three runners – Jacqueline Hallam, Cassandra Hallam and Tavia Hoheisel – sat out Saturday to rest for the Lady Eagles’ final meet, the NCCAA Championship in Cedarville, Ohio, on Nov. 10.

“It was a great day all around for the women, with Tara running a great race, Noemi running tough and Maria running a season-best time.”

With only three runners, OC didn’t post a team score. Oklahoma Baptist’s Hannah Helker won the individual title with a time of 17:03.08, leading the Bison to the team win.
