EMPORIA, Kan. (April 6, 2013) – Katie Ostlund and Tara Lewis posted top-five finishes in the javelin and 5,000 meters, respectively, to highlight Oklahoma Christian’s outing on Saturday at the Emporia State relays.
Lewis took fifth among 17 runners in the 5,000 with a time of 18:43.84, qualifying her for the season-ending National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Championships.
Ostlund was fourth among 30 throwers in the javelin, recording a top mark of 137 feet, 5 inches (41.88 meters).
In other field events, Makenzie Brown posted a season-best mark of 131 feet, 6 inches (40.08 meters) in the discus, while Sarah DiBiasi posted a national qualifying mark in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 9 inches (1.45 meters). She finished tied for 11th out of 17 competitors.
OC’s 4x400-meter relay team of Rebecca Bloodworth, Maegan Cowan, Somer Helms and Andrea Dennis finished eighth among 20 teams with a season-best time of 4:02.74.
The Lady Eagles’ top individual sprinters were Cowan and Dennis, who finished 23rd and 24th, respectively, in the 200 meters with times of 26.67 seconds and 26.73 seconds.
