SEARCY, Ark. (Feb. 14, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian went with new-look doubles lineups on Thursday at Harding (Ark.) but the result was familiar – another lopsided win for the Lady Eagles.
OC beat the Bisons 7-2, winning two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches in the first of two duals in Arkansas in as many days. The Lady Eagles will play at Heartland Conference rival Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday.
The doubles teams for OC (3-1) were Barbora Bozkova and Gisela Castany, Maryfer Abreu Roman and Gabriela Carrillo and Angie Torres Quezada and Rebeca Aguilar Dominguez. None of the duos had played together previously this season.
At No. 1 doubles, Bozkova and Castany beat Harding’s Benyapa Phumtip and Gabrielle Rowden 8-2, and Abreu Roman and Carrillo rolled to an 8-0 win over Chelsea Lanier and Katie Huff at the No. 2 position. Torres Quezada and Aguilar Dominguez lost at No. 3 doubles, falling 8-4 to Maria Moreno and Kaleigh Wagner.
All five of the Lady Eagles’ singles wins came in straight sets, as Harding players won only a combined 16 games in those five matches. Bozkova won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles over Phumtip and Carrillo also won in lopsided fashion, beating Huff 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 4 position.
Harding (2-3) posted its only singles win at No. 6, with Moreno beating Aguilar Dominguez 6-2, 6-2.
