OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 7, 2012) – For the second straight week, Oklahoma Christian’s women’s golf team will play close to home.
The Lady Eagles, who played last week in northeast Oklahoma City at Lincoln Park Golf Club’s East Course in the RCB Bank Classic, will cross Grand Boulevard to play at Lincoln Park’s West Course in the Oklahoma City University Stars Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament starts 8 a.m. Monday with teams teeing off on the first and 10th holes on the par-72, 6,001-yard layout. Tuesday’s action will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
OC, in its first year of the NCAA Division II membership process, finished seventh in a strong Division II field in last week’s event and posted second-place finishes in each of their first two tournaments, the Hawks Creek Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
A handful of top NAIA teams will be in this week’s field, including OC’s former conference rival, Oklahoma City University. OC finished one spot ahead of OCU in the NAIA Championship in May in Greeneville, Tenn., after finishing second to the Stars in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship, also played at Lincoln Park West.
OC sophomore Anna Arrese Cortadellas has been named as the Heartland Conference player of the week each of the last two weeks after earning medalist honors in the Grand Canyon tournament and RCB Bank Classic. Through six rounds this fall, she has a 72.8 stroke average, tops in this week’s field. She led the NAIA in stroke average last spring.
OC’s other starters this week will be Sarah Harper, Catherine Odgers, Morgan Dockery and Audrey Meisch.
