OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 23, 2012) – Sarenity Gomez’s goal late in the first half proved to be enough for Newman (Kan.) as the Jets completed a season sweep of Heartland Conference rival Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday night.

Gomez’s goal in the 40th minute came on a rebound from a previous shot by Channing Kelly, who was credited with the assist for Newman (6-9-1). OC goalkeeper Lindsey Williams saved Kelly’s shot before Gomez scored.

OC (2-12) proved unable to equalize in the second half in an otherwise evenly matched game. Newman outshot the Lady Eagles 20-18 and both Williams and Newman goalkeeper Haley Borchers had five saves.

Callie White led OC in shots with six while Addie Ryan took four.

The Lady Eagles will return to action on Thursday, hosting Texas-Permian Basin.
