STEPHENVILLE, Texas (March 2, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian managed only eight hits in two games and lost 6-2 and 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Tarleton State (Texas).
OC (8-9) went 2-4 during its five-day excursion into Texas, which came after weather wiped out a handful of early season softball games for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles were tied 1-1 with Tarleton State (11-8) after Lauren Chatigny’s single to right field scored Sarah Peoples in the top of the sixth. But the TexAnns jumped on OC starter Lindsy Moore (3-4) in the bottom of the inning for five runs on three hits, including a grand slam by Amber Clifford.
Kendra Pierce doubled and scored on a single by Kala Ratliff in the top of the seventh for OC, but the Eagles couldn’t pull any closer. Randi Fentress (1-0) picked up the pitching win for the TexAnns, allowing three hits and striking out 10 batters.
In the second game, Tarleton State pitcher Brenna Hennan (1-0) scattered five hits. Monique Elliott was OC’s only player with more than one hit, as she went 2-for-3. Hennan also struck out 10 batters.
The TexAnns jumped on OC starter Taylor Mosher (3-2) for nine hits and six runs in five-plus innings. Arianna Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored for Tarleton State, while Courtney Vroman and Kelsey Latta each had a pair of RBIs.
