CLARENDON, Texas (May 21, 2014) – Chiza Ntirata, a still-developing big man with lots of upside, has signed a letter of intent to play college basketball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Dan Hays said Wednesday.
Ntirata, a 6-6, 225-pound transfer from Clarendon (Texas) College, is a native of Bukavu, Congo, and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at OC.
As a freshman at Clarendon, Ntirata averaged 6.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game. During conference play, he averaged 9.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game for the Bulldogs while shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range.
“We are excited to have Chiza round out our recruiting class,” Hays said. “He played his freshman season in one of the toughest junior-college leagues in the country under coach Tony Starnes. He will give us athleticism at the power forward position and should show marked improvement as the season progresses.
“The big bonus is that he has three years at Oklahoma Christian.”
Ntirata joins a recruiting class that includes Cameron Peters of Piedmont; Jordan Box of Frisco, Texas; Tripp Fuller of Moore; Elijah Strickland of Burkburnett, Texas; Zach Holloway of Groom, Texas; Stephen Amalong of Oklahoma City; and Spencer Shaw of Whitehouse, Texas.
