OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 3, 2012) – The Heartland Conference on Wednesday named Oklahoma Christian’s Jared Consoli as its men’s golfer of the week.
Consoli, a junior from Brisbane, Australia, finished as the individual runner-up, leading the Eagles to the team title in the Texoma Invitational, played Monday and Tuesday at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club in Kingston.
Consoli shot rounds of 71-72-73 to finish at even par for the tournament. It was his highest individual finish since winning the Wyndham Invitational at TPC Four Seasons in Las Colinas, Texas, during the 2012 spring season. The Eagles won the tournament title for the third straight year.
It’s the second time Consoli has won a weekly conference award, having received the same honor from the Sooner Athletic Conference after winning at TPC Four Seasons.
Consoli is the second OC golfer to win the weekly Heartland Conference award this fall. Sam Johnston took the honor after each of OC’s first two tournaments, the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan., and the U.C. Ferguson Classic at Lincoln Park Golf Club’s West Course in Oklahoma City.
