LAWRENCE, Kan. (April 17, 2014) – Oklahoma Christian’s Roz Hamilton didn’t improve on her freshly minted school record in the heptathlon, but considering the circumstances, she fared well anyway.
The senior from Idabel battled cool, windy conditions on Thursday while competing at one of collegiate track and field’s most prestigious meets. She finished the two-day event with a score of 4,417 points – the second-highest of her career – to finish third in a six-woman field.
Hamilton’s performance came a week after she snapped a 27-year-old school record by scoring 4,561 points in the Cowley Tiger Heptathlon in Arkansas City, Kan.
During the Kansas Relays heptathlon, Hamilton won one event, taking top honors in the shot put with a throw of 11.71 meters. In the overall final standings, she beat three competitors from NCAA Division I programs.
