OKLAHOMA CITY (March 12, 2013) – For the second time this season, Oklahoma Christian center Will Reinke has been named as the National Christian College Athletic Association men’s basketball student-athlete of the week.
Reinke, a 6-foot-10 senior from Lawton, was outstanding in OC’s 89-87 loss to Mid-America Christian in the NCCAA Central Region semifinals in Bartlesville last Friday, finishing with 26 points, 17 rebounds, seven blocked shots and two assists. He tied his career highs in rebounds and blocked shots.
In a first-round regional-tournament win over Central Christian (Kan.), Reinke had 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, three assists and one steal. For the week, he shot 57.5 percent from the field (15 of 26) and 93.3 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 15).
Reinke also received the NCCAA honor in December after a week in which he recorded 17 dunks while leading the Eagles to a 3-0 record. OC (17-11) received an at-large berth to the NCCAA Championship and will play Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Wednesday afternoon in a first-round game in Winona Lake, Ind.
Reinke was one of a record four OC student-athletes to receive an NCCAA student-athlete of the week honor Tuesday, joining Morgan Dockery (women’s golf), Sam Johnston (men’s golf) and Katy O’Steen (women’s basketball).
