OKLAHOMA CITY (April 11, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian’s home softball series against Heartland Conference rival St. Mary’s (Texas) has been moved to San Antonio, Texas, because of wet field conditions locally, OC coach Tom Heath said Thursday.
About 1½ inches of rain fell in north Oklahoma City and Edmond on Tuesday night and Wednesday, leaving the field at Edmond North High School in unplayable condition, even for a series that was to begin Friday afternoon.
So for the second straight week, the Lady Eagles face a spur-of-the-moment road trip. Last weekend’s home series against Texas-Permian Basin was switched to Odessa, Texas, also because of wet field conditions in Oklahoma.
UTPB and St. Mary’s will return the trips next season. The games against St. Mary’s were to be the final home dates of the season for OC (18-17), which has played only seven home contests in 2013.
The games this weekend will be played at the University of Texas-San Antonio’s Roadrunner Field. Game times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday.
OC’s doubleheader at Mid-America Christian, set for next Tuesday, also has been cancelled and likely won’t be made up.
After the St. Mary’s series, the Lady Eagles will close the regular season with a three-game conference series at Texas A&M International on April 19-20 before competing in the National Christian College Athletic Association Central Region tournament, set for April 26-27 at Central Baptist College in Conway, Ark.
