EDMOND, Okla. (May 13, 2013) – Garett Hill and Jack Hale, teammates at Edmond Memorial High School, each have signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Lonny Cobble said Monday.
Hill, a shortstop and right-handed pitcher, has started for three years for Edmond Memorial, which went 21-13 this spring. Hill served as both a starting pitcher and a closer for the Bulldogs, finishing 6-3 with a 3.82 ERA and 48 strikeouts and 21 walks in 55 innings.
“Garett will work hard and has a chance to contribute on the mound right away,” Cobble said.
Hale started in centerfield for the Bulldogs this season, hitting .411 with an on-base percentage of .519 and a slugging percentage of .542. He had nine doubles, 24 RBIs, 24 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 34 games.
He earned honorable mention on The Oklahoman’s All-State and Big All-City teams in 2012.
“Jack runs well and hits left-handed, which is a plus,” Cobble said. “He will add speed and a left-handed stick to a team that needs left-handed hitting.”
