Eagles roll to 8-1 win at Northwood (Fla.) to start spring break trip

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 16, 2013) – Josip Smoljan and Paulo Roessle recorded dominating wins in both doubles and singles and No. 10-ranked Oklahoma Christian routed Northwood (Fla.) on Saturday at Patch Reef Park.

The match was the first of five scheduled in the Sunshine State in the coming days for OC (7-1). The Eagles will face No. 4 Barry (Fla.) on Sunday.

Against Northwood (7-2), the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 advantage after the doubles matches. Smoljan and Roessle, playing No. 3 doubles, blanked the Seahawks’ Jacob Alplund and Diego Ortega 8-0.

In singles play, Smoljan won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles over David Cathalina and Roessle won by the same score over Ortega at the No. 6 position.

Bruno Tiberti, Julio Pulido and Nicolas Auruccio also recorded singles wins for the Eagles.
