ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 7, 2013) – Banged-up Oklahoma Christian outshot McMurry (Texas) but surrendered a pair of second-half goals that allowed the War Hawks to win 2-0 on Monday afternoon at Wilford Moore Stadium.

OC (2-5-1, 0-2 Heartland Conference) used only 14 players against McMurry (2-6-1, 1-1) because of a slew of injuries that has sidelined almost one-third of the Eagles’ roster. Still, OC outshot McMurry 15-8 but couldn’t get the ball past McMurry goalkeeper Neil O’Sullivan, who made five saves.

After a scoreless first half, Juan Isacura put the War Hawks ahead in the 47th minute. David Cato added an insurance goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Jaime Hernandez. The Eagles kept pushing and managed to get four shots off in the closing minutes, but none were successful.

Freshman goalkeeper Evan Helker, making his second career start, made four saves for OC.

The Eagles, seeking to snap a four-game losing streak, will return home to play NCAA Division II No. 12-ranked West Texas A&M on Thursday. It will be the Eagles’ third game this season against a top-15 foe, as OC already has faced Northeastern State and St. Edward’s (Texas).
