Eagles move up to No. 21 in Division II men’s golf rankings
NEW YORK (Sept. 25, 2013) – Oklahoma Christian moved up three spots to No. 21 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf NCAA Division II College Coaches’ Poll, which was released Wednesday.
The Eagles received 78 points in the balloting by members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. OC was one of two Heartland Conference teams in the poll, as St. Mary’s (Texas) was No. 25.
OC opened its season by winning the Newman Fall Invitational at Reflection Ridge Golf Club in Wichita, Kan., two weeks ago.
Last week, the Eagles posted a strong third-place showing in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, a tournament that drew top teams from throughout the Division II South Central Region, which includes schools from the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences.
The new national top 10 consists of Barry (Fla.) – which received 14 of 15 first-place votes – Nova Southeastern (Fla.), South Carolina-Aiken, Lynn (Fla.), Florida Southern, California State-Monterey Bay, North Alabama, Central Missouri, Missouri-St. Louis and California State-Stanislaus.
Besides OC and St. Mary’s, only one other Heartland Conference team received votes – St. Edward’s (Texas), which finished 42nd in the balloting.
