EDMOND, Okla. (Feb. 18, 2013) – Sophia Brazil, who helped lift Deer Creek High School to the 2012 Class 5A title, has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Randall Robison said Monday.
Brazil, from Edmond, will become a three-year starter at forward for Deer Creek when she takes the field this spring. She is one of five players from the Antlers’ 2012 squad who signed to play in college.
"Sophia is a very versatile player,” Robison said. “She should arrive this fall and immediately make an impact in the center part of the field for us. Sophia's a leader both on and off the field. I look forward to her enthusiasm and work ethic helping us to improve."
Brazil’s Deer Creek teams have enjoyed much success, reaching the state semifinals in 2010 and the title game in 2011 before winning it all last season.
She comes from an athletic background, as her stepmother, Sandy (Ochoa) Brazil, played softball at Oklahoma during the late 1980s.
