OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 14, 2014) – For the second time in her career, Oklahoma Christian sprinter Maegan Cowan has been named as the National Christian College Athletic Association women’s indoor track and field student-athlete of the week.
Cowan, a junior from DeSoto, Texas, shined in two events for the Lady Eagles last weekend at the Missouri Southern Indoor Invitational in Joplin, Mo. Individually, she finished second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:29.38.
She then ran the third leg for OC in the 4x400-meter relay, and together with Kara Drewke, Rebecca Bloodworth and Andrea Dennis, teamed to finish in 4:12.05, a respectable time for the first meet of the indoor season. OC took fourth in the seven-team race.
Cowan won her first NCCAA award almost a year ago to the day – Jan. 15, 2013 – also after running in a meet at Missouri Southern. She is the second OC competitor to win the NCCAA women’s indoor track and field award this season, joining freshman thrower Miranda Ostlund.
OC swept the NCCAA indoor track awards this week, as junior distance runner Bryant Keirns took the men’s national honor.
