OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 14, 2012) – It’s a fresh start in more ways than one for Oklahoma Christian’s women’s basketball team as they prepare for the start of preseason practice on Monday.

The Lady Eagles are coming off an injury-marred 9-20 season, but with the university having started the NCAA Division II membership process, there’s a new conference with new opponents and a chance for a clean slate.

Coach Stephanie Findley, starting her 28th season at the helm of the Lady Eagles, has been anxious to see what her squad look like in practice, but under NCAA rules, the practice routine couldn’t start until Monday.

“We are all excited to get practices going full speed,” Findley said. “We have been lifting and conditioning but are ready to get on the court. With the later start under NCAA rules it feels like we are way behind where we might have been in previous years.”

OC will return its three frontline starters this season – Katy O’Steen, Roz Hamilton and Andee Wayne – but will have to find two guards to fill the starting roles vacated by the now-graduated Katy Clift and Tarynn Branscum.

The Lady Eagles will play at Oklahoma in an exhibition game on Nov. 1 in Norman before opening the season Nov. 3 at home against Oklahoma Wesleyan.
