OKLAHOMA CITY (May 6, 2013) – Pitcher Chris Burgess and outfielder Dillon Andrews represented Oklahoma Christian on the National Christian College Athletic Association All-Central Region baseball honor team, which was announced Monday.
Burgess, a senior from West Chicago, Ill., has been OC’s most dominant pitcher during his only season with the Eagles (22-22). Entering the NCCAA Central Region tournament, Burgess is 5-0 with a single-season school record eight saves and a 1.15 ERA. He has 42 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings of work.
Burgess ranks fifth in the NCCAA in saves and would lead the nation in ERA if he had thrown enough innings to qualify for the NCCAA statistical list in that category. He has figured into 13 of the Eagles’ 22 wins this season.
Andrews, a senior from Midwest City, is hitting a team-high .383 with 24 RBIs, two home runs, 11 doubles, 11 stolen bases and a .556 slugging percentage. He ranks 16th in the NCCAA in hitting and 17th in slugging percentage.
Fifteen players from six schools made the regional honor list.
