MASON, Ohio (May 18, 2013) – Seven Oklahoma Christian baseball players have qualified for National Christian College Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete status.
The NCCAA announced the honor list during the NCCAA World Series, which ended Saturday. To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a junior academically and have a grade-point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
Ryan Nash, a junior pitcher from Oklahoma City who is a senior academically, led the Eagles with a 3.97 GPA in mechanical engineering.
Caden Cleveland, a sophomore catcher from Oklahoma City who is a junior academically, has a 3.69 GPA in finance. Another finance major, Jordan Lopez of Edmond, has a 3.47 GPA. Lopez, an outfielder, just finished his sophomore season but is a junior academically.
Caleb Price, a junior outfielder from Oklahoma City, has a 3.47 GPA in communications/design. Senior outfielder Heath Steele of Flower Mound, Texas, has a 3.84 GPA in history/pre-law.
Brothers Garrett Stephenson and Jacob Stephenson of Celina, Texas, also made the list. Garrett Stephenson, a junior shortstop, has a 3.57 GPA in journalism. Jacob Stephenson, a sophomore pitcher who is a junior academically, has a 3.41 GPA in sports/wellness/recreation management.
