3 from OC finish in top 20 at Oklahoma stroke-play championship

NORMAN, Okla. (Aug. 8, 2013) – Three Oklahoma Christian players finished in the top 20 in the Oklahoma Golf Association’s state Stroke Play Championship, which ended Wednesday at The Trails Golf Club.

OC newcomer Jackson Stuteville, a sophomore from Durant who transferred from Southeastern Oklahoma State, tied for 14th by shooting a 214 in the three-round tournament. Stuteville, who finished the tournament at 4-over-par, fired a 1-under 69 during the second round.

Another shot back at 215, tied for 16th, was OC’s Trey Payne, a junior from Ardmore. Payne’s best round during the tournament was a final-round 70.

Taylor Williams, an OC senior from Chickasha, tied for 19th at 216 and closed strong, shooting a 69 on the tournament’s final day – one of only six under-par scores during the last round.

Hayden Wood of Edmond won the 70-man tournament with a final score of 207.
