- The factbook provided by the Central Intelligence Agency that provides
geographic and other information about most countries in the world.

Country Maps
- The Perry-Castaneda Library Map Collection contains maps of all countries.

Country Studies
- A continuing series of books prepared by the Federal Research Division
of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program
sponsored by the Department of the Army. This online series presently
contains studies of 85 countries.
- Earth Observation
Images
- NASA JSC digital image collection. Each shuttle mission produces 2000
to 5000 photographic images. Over 250,000 images have been captured,
digitized, and stored.

- Extensive list of links to geographic information.
- Getty
Thesaurus of Geographical Names Online
- Searching for a place name yields information such as a location "hierarchy,"
basic information such as longitude and latitude, and where available,
short descriptive passages on the history and political, cultural, or
commercial significance of the location over time.
- MapQuest
- An easy-to-use site that includes online maps, driving directions, and
travel guides. Users can type in an address and get both a map and directions
to that location.
- National Atlas
of the United States
- Provides a wide variety of information about the United States in
map form.

Geographic Map Machine
- Provides a multitude of mapping products. Users can search for a location
or browse a variety of mapping options.

- Useful and complete list of Web sites with cartographic components
maintained by the map curator at Utrecht University.
- Perry-Castaneda
Library - World City Maps
- Maps of cities around the world from the Perry-Castaneda Library Map
Collection at the University of Texas at Austin.

Nations Cartographic Section
- Provides access to more than 100 non-U.S. maps organized by region
and country.
- U.S.
Gazetteer
- The U.S. Census Bureau created the Gazetteer as a way to identify
places to view with the Tiger Map Server and to obtain census data from
the 1990 Census Lookup server. You can search for a place by entering
the name of the city or town and the state abbreviation (optional),
or by typing the 5-digit Zip Code.
