FINANCIAL AID: TUITION DISCOUNT, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Financial Aid. Oklahoma Christian University offers a wide variety of programs for students seeking financial aid to attend graduate school. Graduate students who establish financial need can receive federal funds for work-study and loans. For additional information contact Financial Services.
Tuition Discount. The College of Biblical Studies offers a tuition discount of $125 per hour for graduate students meeting certain criteria.
Scholarships. A number of scholarships are also available. Students should apply for scholarships as soon as possible after January 1 for the following fall semester. Please note the information below concerning 2008-2009 Graduate Bible Scholarships.
Awards are made at the following levels for qualified applicants. Note that these are annual awards, and that the awards are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters unless the student chooses to save some funds to summer sessions. Students will receive awards at the beginning of the semester based on the hours in which they enroll. Full-time students are those who enroll in 9 or more hours in a fall or spring semester (6 hours in a summer semester). Half-time students must enroll in at least 5 hours but normally enroll in 6 hours due to course schedules (3 hours in summer). No awards are available to students enrolled less than half-time.
Applicants must meet published guidelines to receive awards.
1. Incoming students who are first-time applicants to the University:
Full-time students will be awarded $400 ($200 per semester).
Half-time students will be awarded $200 ($100 per semester).
2. Students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the committee:
Full-time students will be awarded $400 ($200 per semester).
Half-time students will be awarded $200 ($100 per semester).
3. Students recognized for achievement, potential, and other factors:
Full-time students will receive awards of $200-400 ($100-200 per semester).
Half-time students will receive awards of $100-200 ($50-100 per semester).
The awards may be stacked with the following limits:
Full-time students may not receive over $500 per semester.
Half-time students may not receive over $250 per semester.
Awards for students will be pro-rated if enrollment levels change from semester to semester.
Employment. Work opportunities are readily available in the Oklahoma City area, and many OC graduate students work in area churches as preachers, youth ministers, and in other roles. Graduate students may be employed as residence hall directors in campus housing. Compensation is given in the form of a free apartment, paid utilities, a meal plan, a $300 stipend for books and tuition (fall and spring only, if enrolled in 6 hour more graduate hours), and a monthly salary (9 months). Interested individuals should contact the Office of Student Services for an application and information packet.
FINANCIAL SERVICES POLICY
All charges for graduate Bible classes are applied to accounts at enrollment. Payment is due from a College of Biblical Studies graduate student when classes begin for that student in any semester. While there is a four-week period before accounts are considered past due (and before students could be dropped for non-payment), payment is due on the first day classes begin for a student.
Payment may be made in cash, check, money order, major credit card or through a student loan. The Financial Services office is available to assist in the application process. It is recommended that students start this process as early as possible. Please note that half-time enrollment (a minimum of five hours) is required in graduate school to be eligible for loans. Also, monthly payment plans are not available to graduate students as for undergraduate students.
