| Join the OC community and other runners to honor the memory of Mike McDonald and raise money for scholarships at Oklahoma Christian by participating in the fifth-annual Mike McDonald Fun Run sponsored by Edmond Physical Therapy and OG&E.
What is it? A 5K run/walk to raise money for scholarships at Oklahoma Christian University and to honor the memory of Mike McDonald, former OC vice-president and running enthusiast who passed away on December 22, 2003 after a long battle with cancer. In addition to the 5K, there will also be a children's carnival with inflatables, a kids fun run, great music, and a hamburger cookout. When is it? Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. (registration begins at 9 under the pavilion at Lawson Commons). Where is it? 2501 E. Memorial Rd (on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University). How much is it? $20 for adults and $10 for OC students, children, and teenagers 18 and under (includes lunch after the run and a t-shirt). Payment is due by March 28, 2008. Wondering why we went with the Wheaties theme? According to one of his children, Mike was such a big Wheaties fan that, "He used to look at the ads for the week and if he could ever find Wheaties for 2 bucks a box or less, he'd go buy as many as they would allow one person (he also did this with motor oil). He'd drag one of us with him so he could buy as many as possible."
