Job Description: FAMILY LIFE MINISTER The Manchester, Connecticut Church of Christ is looking for a committed man of God who is enthusiastic about joining our effort to transform our body life to meet the spiritual and evangelistic challenges of a new generation of Christians, the social diversity of our fellowship and community, and forging the bond of unity and love amongst God’s people. The man we seek is capable of inspiring and equipping interpersonal spiritual change, thinking creatively, managing innovative initiatives, working through uncertainty, resetting priorities as new ideas and challenges emerge, and implementing transformation as a team player. This individual will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals of promoting the relevance of holiness, the call to glorify God, and the formation of a Christ-like identity in the lives of 21st century Christians. The Manchester congregation is the largest congregation of the Churches of Christ in New England—having six elders, 12 deacons, a preaching minister, an office administrator, about 250 members, and a multi-functional facility that is strategically located and thirteen years old. We have an active and comprehensive children’s ministry that complements our youth and adult ministries. A strong parents’ committee supports our youth ministry. We see ourselves as a resource to our sister congregations in New England—sponsoring the annual New England Church Growth Conference, co-sponsoring the largest youth rally in the northeast, sponsoring the international AMEN ministry, and looking for other opportunities to encourage and equip. We have a demographically and ethnic diverse membership and community. Our position for a Family Life Minister is new for us, replacing prior second and third minister positions. While this position is deliberately intended to transform over time as different body-life challenges emerge, the initial primary responsibilities include; (1) helping us bridge the transition from a full-time youth minister to a hybrid mentoring approach and leading our adult education ministry (2) spiritual mentoring of young families, supporting young adult integration into cross-functional ministry transformation efforts led by our deacons, and (3) helping us incorporate effective responses to the concerns of our demographically diverse membership and community by equipping our members to reach out to our community through various types of support group programs, community events, etc. Our elders seek transformation that will preserve unity, encourage Bible-based spiritual maturity, and ensure this congregation continues to serve this community in future generations. Our Preaching Minister is cross-functional in his leadership style and has elected to help others start new culturally responsive ministries, showing us the benefits of flexibility and initiative. All leadership is consistent with Ephesians 4:11-16. Because this position requires spiritual maturity and wisdom, we seek a married man with children and a master’s degree in a Biblical ministry area. Prior experience with youth ministry, education ministry, and/or psychological counseling is desirable. Prior secular work experience is desirable. Organizational skill and interpersonal intimacy are required. We also welcome individuals interested in transitioning from youth ministry positions into an alternative ministry emphasis. Salary is commensurate with experience. Ministers are responsible for their own housing. Contact Charles Brown, Buckeyebrown1@gmail.com, 869 878-1366
