Church Name: City Park Church of ChristPosition: Small-town Minister
Type of Ministry: Pulpit
Type of Job: Full-time
Job Description: The City Park church of Christ in Floydada, Texas is looking to connect with the man whom God has been preparing to work with us to expand His kingdom in Floyd County, Texas. We are a 50-member church with a very strong core group (30) of loving, active Christians (there are also 15 additional adherents, who have yet to become members, and are involved at various levels). We have two shepherds who strongly believe their role consists of “people work, not paper work.” Our previous minister of seven years is leaving on the best of terms for a new work. The greatest portion of our members are self-employed in farming (cotton), ginning cotton, and other agricultural pursuits. The church’s work fluctuates with the agricultural year – busier at some times than others. The minister for whom we are looking must have a work ethic much like the farmers around whom he will work: a self-starter and willing to be largely self-directed in his daily work. We very much believe that our minister works with us, not for us. We believe that there is potential for growth in our community, though we realize the obstacles before us. We have averaged 4 baptisms per year over the last several years, most of which were converts from the world (not our own children). We would encourage and facilitate a minister to be involved in the community to make/develop contacts. Typical responsibilities include two sermons, two classes each week; publication of church bulletin; hospital visitations; hospitality (receiving and offering); benevolence work. Beyond these “basics,” we would love to allow the minister to exercise his own talents and abilities to enrich and bless the congregation and our community. We also place an emphasis on engaging our sister congregations in the area and hope our preacher would attend preachers’ meetings, gospel meetings, and other Brotherhood functions. We are near Sunset International Bible Institute and Lubbock Christian University, both of which offer programs and meetings for ministerial equipping and networking. Compensation package is in line with our current congregational size, the economic standards of our area, and with other nearby churches of Christ. It includes the use of a three bed, two bath brick home (1900 sq. ft.). In the past we have made available a reasonable working fund to our minister for expenses directly-related to his work on our behalf (books, continuing education, travel, meals, materials, etc.).
Application Instructions: To apply, please send cover letter, resume, references, links to two on-line sample sermons, and any other information you would like us to consider to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2014. In your cover letter, please speak to why you would be interested in West Texas / Floydada and why you are considering relocating from your current situation.Street Address: 505 S. 5th St.
