Job Description: Requirements The successful candidate must be a dynamic preaching minister who is an encourager; who can equip us from the Word of God to lead pure and holy lives while convicting us of our sin, leading us to repentance, heightening our vigilance and leading us to reach out to the lost. He must be a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ, with a deep love for the members of the body of Christ. He must have a sincere desire and demonstrated ability to encourage the personal, spiritual growth of fellow Christians and to facilitate their involvement in the ministries of the (White Rock) church. He must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will also be an effective communicator of the Word of God, married with a wife that actively works in the congregation and fully supports his work, and have at least five (5) years of pulpit ministry experience. A college degree is required. Who/what do we want him to be? 1. A Spirit-filled man with a strong personal relationship with God. 2. A student of the Word who holds and teaches sound doctrine. 3. A man motivated by the love of God, the church, the lost and missions. 4. Substantive spiritual maturity and able to effectively minister to all diverse groups of the congregation. 5. A talented communicator whose passion is evident yet not overbearing. 6. A man of impeccable character and integrity. 7. Compassionate, caring, friendly and approachable. 8. Contagiously enthusiastic with a high energy level. 9. A hard worker and a good time manager. 10. A family man with a stable family who demonstrates Godly behavior as a husband, father, and head of his household. 11. A humble servant who will submit to the oversight of the eldership. 12. A brother who possesses and demonstrates wisdom in his relationships and life choices. What do we want him to do? 1. Challenge the congregation to holy living. 2. Preach dynamic, interesting, Biblically-based sermons with appropriate humor, anecdotes and actionable application; maintaining a healthy balance between expository and topical preaching. Preach from the entire Bible with a long term plan. 3. Boldly preach the truth. 4. Teach Bible classes Sunday A.M., Wednesday A.M. and Wednesday P.M. 5. Challenge the sin in our lives. 6. Teach the truth as it relates to issues our members encounter in our lives and culture like: sexual sins, drugs and alcohol, materialism and giving, instrumental music and gender roles in the church, etc. 7. Prepare special sermons, classes or presentations as requested by the shepherds. 8. Use PowerPoint presentations for sermons. (White Rock uses MAC computers.) Areas of Responsibility 1. Preach on Sunday mornings and Sunday night as schedules dictate. 2. Teach Adult Bible classes as assigned on Sunday morning and Wednesday night. Teach Wednesday A.M. Men’s Bible Class. 3. Be accessible to members and seekers for counseling and individual Bible study as appropriate. 4. Be available for weddings and funerals for members and their families as needed. 5. Participate in visiting and ministering to the sick, shut in and hospitalized as needed. 6. Maintain regular office hours. 7. Work with the other full-time minister(s) and staff to provide leadership and guidance. 8. Lead other group studies as appropriate. 9. Attend Elders & Staff Meetings when required. 10. Establish and maintain relationships with area ministers and congregations that are comparable to White Rock. 11. Other duties as assigned by the elders.
