Candlelight Devo in The Forum

Fall semester 2018 is now in full swing as the new students are starting to know their way around campus, the social service clubs are recruiting their next generation, our soccer and cross-country teams are competing, and the mornings are growing cooler. Gotta love the Fall!

9/11 Forever Remembered at OC!

OC once again remembered 9/11 on campus by erecting our Field of Flags on the front lawn of our campus. The 168 U.S flags and 168 Oklahoma flags represent the lives lost in the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing and are flown on both April 19th and Sept. 11th each year. OKC bombing survivors and families and 9/11 survivors and families have formed a bond through the years. One way that bond is represented is by the pair of survivor trees from each of these locations. We invite you, next time you’re on campus, to spend some time at our Survivor Tree memorial. A granite marker from the Murrah bombing has a cross made of metal salvaged from the 9/11 New York City disaster. OC Remembers!

Fall 2018 Vienna Studies

Our 2018 Vienna Studies group is being led this Fall by Jeff (’87) and Sydney (Lashley ’89) McMillon. The group headed out Sept. 5th and will be back at the end of the semester. Please join us in praying for these OC students as they enjoy a semester of study abroad. To learn more about our Study Abroad programs go to http://www.oc.edu/studyabroad.

Thoomazo? Do You Need Some Work Done?

Have you heard yet about Thoomazo? Thoomazo (Greek word for "amazed")  is a startup created by OC alumni to help Oklahoma Christian students market services to OC alumni & friends in the OKC area. Services such as babysitting, lawn care, dog grooming, automobile repair and many others are being offered at www.thoomazo.com or on Facebook by searching Thoomazo. Customers can select a service and a provider and that provider will contact the customer to arrange the details, including an agreed upon price. This is a great way for you to meet the needs of your family or household while also helping OC students. OKC and Edmond alumni, give it a try!

One Voice - September 30, 2018

Join us for an evening of glorifying God together in One Voice (formerly OC's Lectureship) on Sunday, September 30 from 6-8 pm in Hardeman Auditorium at Oklahoma Christian University. Following inspiring worship, linger afterward for fellowship and dessert deliciously provided by the Oklahoma Christian Women's Association (OCWA). Help us fill the house!

See the description of the award here: https://www.daisyfoundation.org/daisy-award. And just this month, nursing alumna, Annabelle Little Slater ('17), was selected as a Great 100 Nurse for the state of Oklahoma, an organization in which ‘exemplary nurses are selected based on their concern for humanity, their contributions to the profession of Nursing, and their mentoring of others. The renovation is underway to construct what will appear to be a hospital floor, including state-of-the-art human patient simulation. Way to go OC nursing!

14th Annual North Texas Dinner & Auction

The office of Alumni Relations just returned from a great weekend in Dallas celebrating the OC North Texas Alumni Chapter, their annual dinner & auction to raise money for student scholarships. It was a wonderful event with a bountiful silent auction and a fun live auction emceed by stand-in auctioneer President John deSteiguer. Awards were presented to Dr. Russ Bartee ('76), Lawson Award, and OC Honoree, Bob Lashley ('74). Some new live auction items included the naming rights for one year of a drink in OC’s coffee shop, The Brew. Also, a winning bidder gets to name a street on campus for one year. Thanks to the OC North Texas Alumni for their tireless work to make this event an amazing success! Nearly $50k was raised. Way to go Texas!
