When the first settlers traveled to what would become the United States of America, they did so seeking freedom, room for growth, opportunity, and the chance to strive for the ideal. In doing so, they set the standard for all who would follow them and established the American Dream. The Academy of Leadership & Liberty, together with Oklahoma Christian University, is still working towards that dream.
As the European colonists sailed west, they left behind a place where they felt stifled, where they felt that years of corruption, nepotism, and prejudice had dried up all sources of opportunity and freedom. Today, many Americans speak as if the same has come about in the United States; that one cannot succeed here, that there are no standards of truth, and that no one will stand for what is right and good in our communities. Here in Oklahoma City, the Heart of America, we at the Academy of Leadership & Liberty have not given up on the American Dream; we have not given up hope that America’s future is still bright. We are working to restore hope in a society where people have the freedom, opportunity and ability to choose what they want for their lives.
To help our community realize the American Dream, the Academy of Leadership & Liberty is focusing its efforts on developing leaders and on discussing critical issues such as the responsibility of citizenship, free enterprise, and good governance.
Co-chaired by Mr. Mark Stansberry & Gen. Tommy Franks (ret.), the Heart of America Campaign will jump start the Academy's efforts to bring about a positive change in our communities. The $10,000,000 campaign will pay for the renovation of the Enterprise Square building and endow the future programs of the Academy of Leadership & Liberty.
The renovation of Enterprise Square will provide the facilities needed to make a big impact on our community. Not only will Oklahoma Christian University benefit from the added classrooms and office space, but the community will benefit through access to first-rate conference facilities, the hall of leadership, and increased outreach, educational programs and leadership training courses offered by the Academy of Leadership & Liberty.
Additionally, by endowing the Academy of Leadership & Liberty's operations, the Heart of America campaign will allow us to expand our programs and offer them at low cost or no cost to program participants. We are already impacting lives through programs such as the Oklahoma Leadership Academy, Business Week, the Southwest Youth Leadership Conference, Peace Through Business and others. The endowment will allow us to positively effect thousands of lives for years to come by developing character filled leaders.
Our hope is to partner with nonprofits, educators, local businesses, and concerned citizens to take the lead in setting the standard for those who will follow. Please join us as we search out and restore the heart of the American Dream for our generation and for generations to come.
