Rwanda is one of the smallest countries in Africa with only 9,000,000 million inhabitants and occupying only 10,000 square miles (about the size of Vermont). Why then should Peace Through Business focus its efforts on this tiny nation?
1. The government of Rwanda is committed to the principles that lie at the core of liberty: democracy, and free markets.
2. Rwanda is rapidly modernizing its economy with a focus on education, international trade, and business development.
3. The country has experienced unprecedented sustained growth in a very underdeveloped region of Africa. In this decade, real GDP in Rwanda has grown by over 40%.
4. Rwandan women have a greater share of parlimentary seats than in any other nation in the world (over 49%).
5. Over 45% of school students are female which places Rwanda among the highest levels of female integration in Africa.
6. Oklahoma Christian University has established a close relationship with the government of Rwanda which is being very supportive of this program.
