A native of Oklahoma, Brian was born in Altus and grew up helping out on his family’s farm. Growing up farming wheat on land which had been the homestead of his great-grandfather, Brian developed an appreciation for rural life and a deep love for Oklahoma, a state born out of the frontier spirit. The hard work and determination he learned on the family farm carried him through college and law school. The Christian principles on which he was raised inspired him to seek a Christian undergraduate education, a decision that would play a major role in shaping the course of his personal life and professional career.
Upon graduation from OU College of Law, Brian served as an Assistant District Attorney in Oklahoma County. Beginning his work in the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office while attending law school, Brian first worked under Bob Macy as a volunteer and intern and was then hired by Wes Lane as an Assistant D.A. As an Assistant District Attorney, Brian prosecuted both misdemeanors and felonies and was part of the Special Victims Unit.
Brian left the District Attorney’s Office to pursue an opportunity with a statewide private legal practice with offices in Oklahoma City and Norman. In heading up the Norman office, Brian practiced law in Cleveland, Oklahoma, Canadian, McClain, Garvin, Lincoln, Pottawatomie, Logan, Payne, Grady, Comanche, Caddo, Seminole, Garfield, Craig, Roger Mills, and Beckham counties . Still licensed in Oklahoma, Brian is presently admitted to the Oklahoma Bar, the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, and the Court of Indian Offenses in Anadarko, OK.
While working in the legal field, Brian was active in the Church and simultaneously headed the college ministry program at Westside Church of Christ in Norman, OK as it searched for a full- time college minister. This work sparked a passion for serving Christian college students, which led Brian to leave the full time practice of law to become Assistant Dean of Students at Harding University, a Christian University in Searcy, AR and Brian’s alma mater. Brian served there for two years before coming back to his beloved home state and joining the staff at Oklahoma Christian University as Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations.
In Corporate & Foundation Relations, Brian worked to build relationships with local foundations and corporate partners, while overseeing the writing and administration of grants that benefit the Oklahoma Christian family. In his current role as Managing Director of OC’s Academy of Leadership & Liberty, Brian is charged with the primary responsibility for program development and Academy events. While assisting the University President and the Academy’s Executive Director in various civic, foundation, and governmental relations, Brian serves as a liaison between the OC community and the professional legal, tax, and accounting communities, and judicial and governmental officials while overseeing general operations of the Academy including the preparation of budgets and supervising of Academy staff.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Harding University and the degree of Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Brian is supported in his life and work by his wife Becca, who he met at Harding University, and his 6-year-old son Tyler.
