Vadm. Michael Bucchi (ret.) - Board Member

VADM Mike Bucchi, USN (Ret.) was commissioned in 1970 and completed flight training to be designated a Naval Flight Aviator. He retired in 2003 after an active duty tour as Commander of the United States Third Fleet and joined Ocean Systems Engineering Corporation (OSEC) as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. He was named President in 2005.


In his role with Apogen, VADM Bucchi is responsible for the oversight of the OSEC business unit’s technology and engineering work with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps among other customers. In his service with the U.S. Navy, VADM Bucchi served in positions including an instructor at Top Gun, the Navy Fighter Weapons School, and an Operations Officer for Fighter Squadron Thirty-one during its first year as an F-14 squadron. VADM Bucchi was promoted to Flag rank in 1994 and was assigned as the Deputy U.S. Military Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium. (NATO) VADM Bucchi participated in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort.


VADM Bucchi's awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Combat "V," the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Strike/Flight awards with Combat "V," the Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals with Combat "V," the Humanitarian Service Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.


VADM Bucchi is a graduate of Harding College and the national War College. He serves as President of the San Diego Council of the Navy League, President of the San Diego Christian Foundation and an Elder of the El Cajon Blvd Church of Christ in San Diego, CA.
