Welcome From Dr. Garrett
Thank you for considering Oklahoma Christian University. OC was recently named a “Best in the West College” by the Princeton Review, and was ranked 44th in the West by US News and World Report’s “America's Best Colleges, 2011 Edition.” The academic program here at OC is extremely strong. Our professors are experts in their fields; they write articles and books and speak at conferences around the world. This expertise has a huge impact on our students.
The History and Political Science department has had the top chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (that's the national history honor fraternity) in the nation among schools of our size for the past 15 years. In recent years, students from the History and Political Science department have gone on to some of the best graduate schools around the world. Faculty in the department regularly present at a number of prestigious national conferences.
An OC Art and Design alumna was the chief designer of visual and special effects for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Our Gaming and Animation program was named among the top 50 programs in the nation by The Princeton Review.
Our recent Biology graduates have a 100% acceptance rate to medical schools across the nation, and new to OC this year is a Forensic Science major within our Chemistry program. OC has recently renovated lab and classroom facilities in order to better serve our science programs.
Our Accounting Club was awarded first place in the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants' Campus Competition for the third time in the past four years. And OC's American Marketing Association chapter was recognized for Excellence in Community Service at the International Collegiate Conference, beating out 175 other schools. Two of our Language and Literature students were selected out of thousands of entries to have their work published in the English honor society journal, the Sigma Tau Delta Review.
OC is also fortunate to be located in a major metropolitan area, where there are a lot of terrific internship opportunities with major companies. We place graduates with top companies in a variety of industries and we send other graduates on to some of the nation's best graduate schools.
On top of all of this, OC is a place where the professors set a strong Christian example. They care tremendously about their students and invite them to their homes, see them at church and greet them by name around campus.
