School of Engineering
Welcome
Welcome to the School of Engineering at OC, home to three academic departments: Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematical, Computer and Information Sciences. We live in a technical world. Engineering, computing, and mathematics have become critical areas for those who wish to make contibutions to the future of our society. When coupled with the emphasis on faith-based education, service, and learning at OC, you will be equipped as a sevant leader, ready to accept opportunities and follow paths where God leads you. We are enjoying using the new technology our incoming and most other students have -- a MacBook running both Vista and Mac OS X and an iPhone or iPod touch. New students, do you wonder which Mac to get? All the ones available will run our software fine. However aluminum is nice, and more disk space is always nice.
New Freshman Engineering Class Based on NSF Research Project
The three engineering programs at OC will all be requiring a new freshman class this fall. This class, ENGR 1103 Foundations of Engineering Mathematics, is based on a $100,000 research project funded by the National Science Foundation. The intent of this class is to introduce students to engineering while providing a range of mathematics topics that are used in the early engineering classes. The rest of the curriculum has been modified so that the hours required for graduation remain at 128. See our web page on this new class.
Graduate Program at OC Leading to the Master of Science in Engineering Begins Fall 2009
The university has approved a new graduate program leading to the MS in Engineering. A full program will begin this fall. Click here to learn more.
Service Opportunities Blog Site
The mission of OC and that of the School of Engineering includes service to others. We want to use technology to make life better for our neighbor. We have a blog site that provides a place where students and faculty can learn about and discuss service opportunities that we have or that we should work to create. Comments from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others interested in our school are very welcome. This blog has an RSS feed, so if you click on the RSS button in the URL pathname box at the top of your browser, your default RSS reader will let you know whenever a new topic is posted here
Engineering at OC
You no longer have to choose between a world-class engineering program and a Christ-centered education. Oklahoma Christian University offers both. It's as simple as this - if you're a Christian who wants to study engineering, Oklahoma Christian is the place for you. Our faculty have just completed the design of new 128 credit hour curricula for all three engineering degrees. You can check out the new degree requirments under each department's web site. Want to know more? Contact our Engineering Admissions Specialist, Jon Hughes at jon.hughes@oc.edu.
A Summer Engineering Camp for High School Juniors and Seniors
If you are currently a high school sophomore or junior, then come spend a week with our faculty next summer and learn what engineering and computer science are all about. Click here.
Undecided About Which Engineering Major to Take?
Check out the links in this article. If you still can't decide, that's okay. You can figure it out later. As far as your first semester at OC, the courses that you take are very similar. Here is an explanation provided by our engineering programs on what the differences are so that you can decide what to take your first semester here.
Accredited, Rigorous, Excellent
The School of Engineering's Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering Programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700. With programs that challenge and inspire, OC Engineering produces graduates who go on to success in business, government, academia, and the church. This "no compromises" attitude includes our approach to faith. OC students and faculty are encouraged to integrate their academic work with their faith and their prayer life. Our curriculum includes 16 credit hours of Bible topics and our faculty base their lives and their educational goals on their faith Jesus Christ. Classes include vigorous discussions about the interplay between faith, science, and academic inquiry. We believe excellence glorifies God - so we don't settle for less.
Thinking of Transferring to OC Engineering?

Faculty Facts
Steve Maher, Professor of Engineering, says, "I want to teach bright young Christians, especially those good at math and science, to become great (even world class) engineers. I love the college environment. I love working with young people." Maher studies integrated circuit design, debug and failure analysis, and engineering economics and management.
