About this one-week summer camp
The dates for summer engineering camp are June 6-11, 2010.
Deciding whether engineering is for you may be a difficult process. You may not even know what engineering is all about. Engineering is using your creativity and innovation based on a good technical background to solve challenges that make our world a better place. The engineering and computing professions need creative men and women who can work as a team on important problems. This "intro" course will help you understand how mathematics, sciences, and computing capability can be used to solve problems and help others. After this week you should have a much better idea if engineering or computer science is for you.
During this week you will have the opportunity to work on projects that involve electrical, mechanical, and computer topics. We will help you understand what you will be equipped to do if you major in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. Each day will be devoted to one of these fields with a different member of our faculty and you will get to do a project in each one. You will have a chance to get to know other students interested in education at a school with an emphasis on spiritual development as well. The theme in 2007 was wind energy, in 2008 it was biomedical application, in 2009 it was aerospace. In 2010 we are returning to the theme of renewable resources, especially wind and solar energy.
Engineers are busy creating solutions for many of life's challenges. Let us help you decide if the challenges and rewards of engineering are right for you!
