Accreditation
What is
ABET?
ABET, Inc., is the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. Accreditation ensures the quality of the postsecondary education students receive. ABET is recognized by the
Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Our engineering degree programs are accredited by the
Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700.
Is it that important?
The accreditation review process ensures educational quality
by determining if a degree program at an institution is meeting criteria and guidelines. Being
ABET accredited means OC Engineering degree programs meet or exceed
the ABET criteria and ensures prospective employers and engineering registration boards that
our graduates are well-prepared for their technical careers.
Bottom line: If you are getting an engineering degree, get an accredited
one!
