Accreditation

What is ABET?
ABET, Inc., is the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. Accreditation ensures the quality of the postsecondary education students receive. ABET is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.  The university's computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering degree programs are accredited by:  The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, 415 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, Telephone: (410) 347-7700.

Is it that important?
The accreditation review process ensures educational quality by determining if a degree program at an institution is meeting criteria and guidelines. Being ABET accredited means OC Engineering degree programs meet or exceed the ABET criteria and ensures prospective employers and engineering registration boards that our graduates are well-prepared for their technical careers.

Bottom line: If you are getting an engineering degree, get an accredited one!

What About OC Engineering?
Electrical engineering and mechanical engineering degree programs have been accredited since 1991. The computer engineering degree program was accredited in 2005 after we awarded our first degree in the program. (ABET-Accredited Degree Programs)
