About the F-1 Visa
An F-1 student visa is required for international students in order to enter the United States for full-time study at Oklahoma Christian University. Students can apply for a student visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their home country by obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status - Form I-20 A-B from the Office of International Programs. An I-20 can only be issued after completing the requirements for admission.
IMPORTANT
The United States Department of Homeland Security has implemented the following rules for students who were admitted after September 1, 2004.
- All F-1 students with I-20s dated September 1, 2004 or after are required to pay a $100 SEVIS fee before applying for a visa. This fee must be paid directly to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by the internet or by mail. We recommend that you pay your fee via the internet as it is estimated that the fee-by-mail processing can take as long as four weeks.
- All F-1 students with I-20s issued on or after September 1, 2004, and marked for “initial” attendance (see #3 on your I-20 form), must pay the $100 SEVIS fee either online or by mail. We highly recommend you pay online with a credit card, as a receipt can be generated following payment which will save you time. A third party, such as a family member or friend, may pay the fee for you if they have a credit card. You must bring the receipt of fee payment with you to your visa interview.
